Home Cooked Dinner

I have a whole Tupperware load of Siew Yoke in my freezer. I was thinking of ways to clear them from the freezer, but my once weekly Maggi mee with Siew Yoke wasn't making any inroads on the Siew Yoke that I had.

Decided to prepare two dishes which involved Siew Yoke as the significant other loves her roasted pork. Had Chinese sausages as backup, in case all else failed ;)

I'll let the pictures do the talking =)

Stir Fried Leeks with Siew Yoke and Taukuar

I was a little heavy handed with the cornstarch in this dish and the sauce came out a little too thick for both our liking. Taste wise it was fine.

Tau Kuar is simply a Chinese bean curd cut into roughly the size of a finger. Pan fry the fingers in low heat with some vegetable oil and you get Tau Kuar

TauKuar

Stir Fried Siew Yoke and Chicken with Oyster and Black Sauce.

No need for salt in either of the dishes as the Siew Yoke has it's fair share of salt. Tip for preparing the chicken dish? Add some sugar to caramelize the sauce.

Chinese Waxed Sausages which were later steamed.

The Waxed Sausages were a little over steamed. Turns out they weren't actually needed either, as both the main dishes were palatable. LOL!

A happy significant other ;)

Yeah, chicken with caramelized sugar (and soy sauce) is a sure winner. I usually some button mushrooms too. Reading your recent delish cooking adventures, you must be getting very high scores from the significant half lah! hehehe. good job! :)

@HairyBerry : I scored top marks for this dinner ;) I'm thinking of doing a chinese styled paella. But the more I think about it, the more I think it's going to come out like Claypot Chicken Rice. LOL!

@Lrong : Heheheh..Arigato Lron sinseh for your kind comments :)

Cue me in on how your Chinese styled paella goes if you get around attempting it, hehe.

And oh the joys of satisfying the significant other, totally with you on that one. :)
