...Pavarotti, it sure as hell is good enough for me :)
After having barely recovered from my Bangkok escapade, we went off on an escapade for a couple of days again the very next week.
Her best friends from high school had come back from three corners of the globe, as one of them was getting married. The wedding dinner was held at the Equatorial down in Bangi where we spent the night before leaving in a 5 vehicle convoy for Lumut for a the after wedding party at Pangkor Laut resort.
By virtue of being the significant other, I was roped into assist with the festivities. Having being a groomsman a couple of times, you sorta like know that the last couple of days leading up to the wedding would be busy. I reckon all that experience came in handy throughout the wedding :)
The wedding itself was well planned and co-ordinated. What really surprised me was how well I got along with the significant others of her best friends as well, seeing as to how most of us were meeting for the very first time. I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty the dinner was at the Hotel, maybe my expectations were lowered based on past experiences with dinners at hotels.
Pangkor Laut is all that it's made out to be, and more. Safe for the dinner at Fisherman's Cove, which was supposed to be a 3-course fine dining extravaganza which fell below expectations. Food was generally good and serving sizes were huge! I reckon I piled on some weight after both the trip to Bangkok and the trip to Pangkor Laut.
Clockwise From Top Right : Chicken quesadillas Starter, Vietnamese Beef Noodle Main Course (mine), Nasi Goreng with Bull's eye egg (hers), Fruit Platter Dessert, The Menu, Fish Platter Mains.
My only other trip to Pangkor Laut was before Pangkor Laut was Pangkor Laut. Emerald Bay was already there, but the paved roads leading to the Bay from the resort were not. I decided to relive the trek that me and my family took to get to Emerald Bay from the resort. Apart from the steepness of the gradient of the roads, it was a relatively easy hike, compared to the jungle trek that we had to endure to get there so many years ago
Clockwise from top Right : Steep Gradient, Original Trail, Are we there yet?, Rewarded with a cold drink and a laze by the beach on a beach chair on arrival at Emerald Bay
All in all it was a pleasure meeting her best friends from high school and their boyfriends (and husband). I can really relate to the bonds that she shares with them having a similar bunch of close mates from high school as well :)
Left to Right : Pit Stop on the road trip, BBQ @Jiun's place when we arrived.
Somebody once told me, you don't know someone until you have traveled with them. This much I can say, after having gone on a couple trips with the significant other, I can't imagine traveling with anyone else ;)
*hugs*
