We came, We saw, We shopped

And shopped...and then shopped some more. ROFL! Intersperse the shopping with some meals and that was basically our Bangkok Trip in a nutshell :)

It was a trip of many firsts. First time overseas with the significant other and more importantly first trip overseas with the significant other AND the parents at the same time.

And it was a memorable one to say the least. The drama started unfolding even before we crossed immigration. Mom had picked up someones passport thinking it was her own and passed it along to the immigration officer, who in turn thought mom was trying to hoodwink her and gain entry into Thailand with a different passport. It was resolved when a more senior officer came by and instructed the officer manning the counter to let mom through.

*phew*

We checked into the hotel after a very, very slow taxi ride to the hotel. Thankfully, the first meal was pretty good. It was either that or everyone was hungry ;)
Left to Right : Kueh Chap and Khau Phad Kai Dao

Promptly made our way over to Nana to get measured for my suit. Turns out my regular tailor had moved! We spent about 15 minutes looking for his new place. We also suspect this was when where my moms handbag was slit open by a box cutter! Thankfully nothing fell out of her bag, else the trip would have been a real disaster! The tailor shook his head in dismay when we told him about it. He also recounted how he was pick pocketed while on a train in Europe as well.

Everything seemed a little smoother after the drama of the first day, as we slowly ate our way through Bangkok, checking off each and every item on the checklist :)
Nam Jim @ Lek Seafood

Dad was a little disappointed by the food at T&K seafood. Sorry it fell short Dad, the next time round we will go back to our regular joint on the opposite side of the road. He did however like the Goon Orb Woon Sen which was dished out a Lek Seafood! Only to be disappointed again by the lack of oomph from the Beef noodles from his favourite stall at MBK. I reckon it was because we were a little early and the stock/soup had not reached it's full potential yet.
Clockwise from Top Left : Hoi Thod, Sen Mee Nong Phed, Sen Yai Radna, Khau Kha Moo, Som Tum, Pad Thai

Mom ended up getting a ton of clothes from her usual spot @ MBK. We ended up cancelling our appointment for a full body massage at Body Tune so that we could shop some more! That's the only thing we didn't manage to do while we were in Bangkok. Ah well...

The significant other managed to get most of her stuff checked off as well. I think she is particularly happy with this pair of shoes that she bought at Siam Square.
*Insert Happy grin here*

Sorry the weather didn't hold out for us when we were there B. Glad you liked the view from Sirrocco while it lasted ;) Niu's Jazz bar on Silom was also a great place to relax after catching up with Chia and Pui. We both approve of the singer performing that night. Thanks for the presents, I love them to bits.
Gotsa love the Beetle. Check out dem bling, bling reams ;)

Zoom-Zoom Part Duex

Thanks for the wardrobe makeover as well.Glad you enjoyed yourself and thanks for looking after the folks while I was doing my stuff *winks*

Me? I'm just glad I managed to squeeze in two foot massages while I was in town. My tailor made pants are also way, way overdue. All in all it was a very satisfactory and rewarding trip back to my adopted homeland, though my wallet is much lighter after this trip.
 Part of New Wardrobe ;)

The taxi ride back to the Airport? Much zippier than the one to the hotel. LOL!
Smiles all around =)

Hey, T&K Seafood, Lek Seafood are restaurants where you got the feasting on, correct? I'm due for my BKK annual next week, practically keeling over in excitement just looking at the to-buy list!

@Gina : Shop until leg wanna patah!

@Min : Hope this didn't get to you too late..I'd recommend Lek Seafood, as for T&K, go to the one on the opposite side, the one where their uniforms are Pink in colour!
