7 Years

In the month of November 2004, books@me was born. I named the blog books@me as a tongue in cheek way of referring to the number of relationships that I had been in till then. The library has doubled in volume over the past 7 years.

Heh.

"My Fate is in my hands" is a quote that was used by my dad as his quote for his senior year entry in his  High School yearbook. I tweaked it a little and voila it became the tag line for my header.

My dad, who reads my blog from time to time, has been asking to be credited for the quote ;)

This blog, which at the time was supposed to replace the weekly e-mails out to my friends to keep them updated on how things were in Bangkok has progressed and evolved into something more than that. It has really become an online journal and repository of memories, both good and bad for me. As I was pointing out to Meenachi, reading through my old posts, I found out it was raining in November 2009 as well. LOL!

Back in the day, words meant more. I used to pour my heart and soul out into my blogging. I guess when the readership grew, (yes all 18 of you :P) I started to write with a little more reservation. Be a little more conservative. It's really true what they say..the pen is mightier than the sword.

These days, with twitter, it's about how much you can squeeze into 140 characters. With foursquare, it's all about letting your friends know where you are. With the advent of smart-phones and cheap mobile Internet it's all about the here and now.

We all have become information junkies.

Date's used to have to be set in advance, we used to have to check each other's schedule before we could meet. Nowadays with twitter and foursquare I find we "gravitate" towards where our friends are. If you're in the same neighbourhood/mall/area as them, a meet up can be quickly set.

I myself have done this on numerous occasions. Don't get me wrong, a quick splash and dash with a friend is better than not meeting at all..but there's nothing that beats a good 'ole sit down lunch and dinner to catch up. Much the same like the one I had with Sze and Meena last Saturday. By the way, we used Facebook to setup that lunch date. LOL.

Heh.

7 years and counting. Thanks for coming back to read the stuff I rant and ramble about guys and gals. You know who you are ;)

Woohooo... 7 years!!! I started to blog in 2005 and since then I read your blog, so it means I've "known" you for more than 6 years now, hehehe....

Many bloggers have stopped from blogging and yeah, they moved to FB.

Anyway... congrats for the 7 years non-stop blogging ;)

Congratulations, bro! I do agree that being not so anonymous now means that we tend to be more reserved (well, sikit only la..haha) in our posts. But it's all good lah. All the best for your blog and life, bro! :)
